If you have access to a boat, there are some wonderful places to explore from the water.

There are regular ferries between St Mawes and Falmouth as well as the small Place Ferry. See times on St Mawes Quay

Kayaks and paddle boards can also be hired in St Mawes harbour and from Summers Beach.

The St Mawes Water Taxi is available for private hire to take you across the estuary to visit some of the delightful pubs and restaurants or for a day trip to a small beach. Ask in the Harbour office for more details.

Roseland Paddle and Sail offer a range of tuition and hire for all things nautical from sailing to wind surfing and powerboating for beginners to advanced level. Taster sessions available – 07970 926409.

You can also hire a RIB through St Mawes Boat Hire.

Places to visit on the water include;

  • The Helford River estuary with its delightful pubs The Shipwrights in Helford and Ferry Boat Inn at Helford Passage. The Helford River Sailing Club also has a wonderful balcony for food and drinks.
  • Restronguet Creek where you can moor up alongside the Pandora Inn pontoon for food and drink
  • Mylor Harbour where you can moor and enjoy delicious food and Roskilly’s ice cream at Castaways.
  • Falmouth for a trip to explore the winding passageways and shops, pubs and restaurants of the old harbour.
